Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog I’m so thankful that you guys took the time out of your day to read my blog post. Hope you all are safe from the COVID-19 and having a great day. I was so excited for this one but had to put it on hold because of my exams and when I finally got to it, it was so good. SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 1.
The story starts us off with a kid named Johnny Bolt who discovers that he has the power to use electricity. Fascinated by heroes he aims to become like them and one day join the Union of Justice. Plotting with his friend to make his debut as a superhero, one day things go horribly wrong and Johnny decides that if he can’t be a hero he’ll be a villan instead. Cut to years later, Johnny is being released from Supermax prison which is the only place that can imprison superpowered criminals. After getting out and meeting with his lover Kasey and old friends he decides that he doesn’t want to live a simple life and instead wants to live a life of thrill. Wanting to take up crime again, he’s told by Kasey that should use his powers for one big heist and make off with the money to live a luxurious life. Johnny agrees and goes with Kasey leading to an exciting adventure filled with thrills.
The characters are all fun and you’ll actually want to get to know them deeper which unfortunately doesn’t happen much. We get go see Johnny’s backstory from the start and see that he was a misguided kid who just wanted to be a hero and instead turned to a life of crime. Kasey is the only other character who feels as fleshed out as Johnny is and the numerous other characters have little to no backstory though the times which they are on screen, their superpowers and their personalities. There isn’t much to say without spoilers so I’ll leave it at this.
The anime shines in the big amazing setpieces that happen on screen. It’s over-the-top, it’s thrilling and it feels like the superpowers are really being used to do things which wouldn’t be possible in a show without superpowers. The funny banter of the characters combined with the thrilling scenes all make it a good watch, though some might complain that there are pacing issues, I for one felt that it wasn’t as prevelant and didn’t bother me a lot and I felt that the show did a nice job keeping the suspense up.
The show is mostly fun and good times but beneath all that the show really teaches you a few things. One of them being, accepting one’s mistake, while Johnny’s backstory attempts to make us sympathize with him, we still cannot ignore that he was a villan and caused harm to numerous people. The show definetly wants us to like Johnny as a main character but I feel that if he was more mature he would have accepted his mistake and not turned out like the carefree person he was. The short part is accept your mistakes.
The finale is one big twist that’ll surely have you impressed and make you feel that watching the entire show was worth it. I absolutely loved the plot of the show and it really was Great Pretender combined with superpowers though this show focuses much on the superpowers part than the sneaky and brainy heist part. Despite it’s flaws, Super Crooks is definetly something you should check out if you want some good music, nice action, a good heist and want to sit back and relax.

Names Johnny Bolt and he’s out doing crime,
Right a few afters he got out doing time,
All of his hardwork to make a measly dime,
You can’t blame him for wanting out of the grime.
One last heist with a bunch of obscure rooks,
These guys are all villans that are off the books,
And with his girlfriend who’s deadly with good looks,
He’s forming a team that are gonna become SUPERCROOKS.
