AJIN: A thrilling horror

Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog I’m so thankful that you guys took the time out of your day to read my blog post. Hope you all are safe and healthy. It took me quiet a while to get to this point but this was amazing. I heard that the anime didn’t have good quality animation so I just picked up the manga and it was a good choice. Mild SPOILERS AHEAD.

The story shows Kei Nagai, a high school student living a normal and mundane life. All that changes when one day, he’s suddenly hit by a truck and to his shock, sees his body regenerate itself confirming that he is an Ajin, a demi-human who is immortal and can recover from any mortal injury. Now hunted by people who he considered friends, Kei calls up a childhood friend Kaito and asks his help to get away from town. Eventually, Kei realizes that he cannot run forever and that being with him will put Kaito in danger as well. Deducing that there has to be a community of demi-humans who live in secret, Kei decides to seek them out and take their help to survive but this group itself, is not what it seems. What begins as a story about escape and survival gradually turns into a battle for humanity, making us question what truly should be the definition of a human.

The characters are all very diverse in my opinion. We have Kei Nagai who at first glance seems to be the general protagonist you’d see in any manga but he soon shows his detachment and coldness which tells us that he isn’t what we make him out to be and rather he is a calculating individual who isn’t driven by emotions but rather by logic. His journey shows how despicable humans can be when driven by greed. The main antagonist is Sato, a demi-human who is the complete opposite of Kei, a man who does things purely for fun, for the heck of it, his veteran experience is a sharp contrast to Nagai and that makes for a very interesting battle between the two. There are several more characters like Ko Nakano, a fellow demi-human, Yu Tosaki, the head of demi-human research under the Ministry of Health, Tanaka, a demi-human who supports Sato and loads and loads more all of whom get their own little development and backstory that lets you understand them though some of them are obviously more favorite than others.

The good thing is definitely the story that the manga puts forward. While initially I thought that it would be a story about Kei discovering his powers and discovering the difference between monster and human and who he really is, but the story gets into combat really soon and while the psychological nature is still there, the story focuses more on combat and fighting. The twists in the story are really good which will make you leave you in awe of the writer’s creativity. The combat in itself is very good since the manga shows battle tactics and more brainy stuff as one would call it and combining it with the fights that are shown, it all makes for an exciting read. The show doesn’t hesitate in increasing the scale, something like Chainsaw Man, the manga always keep going higher and higher. The author also doesn’t hesitate to go into dark places and touch on themes that some would hesitate to show which makes for a good psychological read.

The lesson can easily be seen as how despicable humans can be when under greed. The manga shows how easily some people forget their humanity. Some characters in the show forget that those that they are dealing with are humans as well and when they forget that, the violence that they commit, comes back to bite them in the form of a person who doesn’t consider them human. The manga really made me question, Who was truly a monster ? The one who couldn’t die ? Or the one’s who took advantage of it ? The definition lies vague and the difference between human and monster as well.

The manga is completed at 86 chapters and it makes for an amazing read with its psychological horror, insane fights and creative plot. The finale is amazing with all it’s amazing plot twists and turns that will leave you stunned. The plot is the best thing about Ajin and while I can’t really point out what specifically made it so good, I can say that it must have been a multitude of factors that made it this good. I recommend this manga to anyone who likes combat and psychological stuff .

Rap section:

Hot summer days and taking one small stroll,
Hit by a truck but he emerges out whole,
It’s confusing but there’s an answer sole,
Kei Nagai is a demi human and now things are out of control.

Ajin Demi Human they just can’t die,
No matter if it’s a bullet or jumping down from the sky,
He doesn’t understand he just wants to know why,
He had to be this way he wants it to be a lie.

People turn yeah they grabbing for the money,
An old friend helps him out they get lucky,
They think he’s a monster it’s not even funny,
Meeting up with others now things are gonna get bloody.

He’s hunted and tortured things can’t possibly get worse,
Oh but they still do better call a hearse,
Things are gonna get violent no matter who gets hurt,
Demi Human is it a blessing or a curse ?

So that is it for this post guys hope you got some value from this.  Thank you guys for reading to the end hit me up on Instagram and Twitter with your thoughts and if you have any ideas on what I should write about. Stay safe from the COVID-19. Thank you again and I’ll see you all next week.
