Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog I’m so thankful that you guys took the time out of your day to read my blog post. Hope you all are safe and healthy. I played 2077 once and I liked it, combined with the trailer this anime was looking amazing and it did not disappoint in any way, it delivered what it promised. MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

The plot sees us follow David Martinez, a punk kid from the streets who lives with his mother and attends Arasaka Academy. They struggle to make ends meet and David due to circumstances comes into the possession of a very powerful military-grade cyberware that he installs in himself which sets him off on an adventure that will mature him into a skilled edgerunner taking him all the way to the top of Arasaka tower.
The one complaint that I have from this anime is the wasted potential of the characters, all these characters were unique and all seemed to have amazing stories hidden underneath them but sadly we do not get to know them in much detail and instead only learn about the main character David and one other character, Lucy. The rest of the characters could have amazing stories of their own but the short 10-episode run doesn’t leave room for them. David, we see grow from a caring son who is simply using the wrong ways to turning into a full-blown edgerunner, a merc. We see that his core character of being reckless doesn’t change but he still grows both physically and psychologically throughout the show. Seeing him go from a naive kid to the top of Arasaka tower is an amazing journey. Lucy the other character that gets depth has a story of her own that shows her vulnerabilities from a difficult past. I will once again state this, there are many other lovable characters, they simply needed more time.
The anime has stunning visuals as you must have seen from the trailer, the animation is so smooth that it elevates all the intense action that is shown in the anime combine with that the amazing music and you will see that the anime manages to blend together these already good elements so well that it rises the scenes up to a different level. The unique art style may lead to some people complaining but that is something personal and for me I liked it and I am not one who often talks about the art style and colors but Night City just looks so beautiful in the anime. The anime manages to portray the tough and inhuman world of Night City really well in the short time that it is given and we even see some characters from the 2077 game make an appearance. The only other problem with this anime is that if you’re watching on Netflix then be ready for horrible subtitles which led me to watch the anime in English dub which is actually really good and feels natural even.
The one thing that I was left in awe of was how we see that implanting all the tech into one’s body can make them inhuman in not just their abilities but also their mind. How this tech affects the mind was a large plot point in the show. Another thing that was shown well was how big corporations are controlling everything, how everyone in one way or another is just trying to climb up the ladder to reach the top. The anime isn’t all about the worse parts of capitalism but it does manage to show those parts really well.
A 10-episode short binge, Cyberpunk Edgerunners is one of those anime that definitely could have used more episodes to better flesh out the story and the characters but stays great regardless. The anime has great animation and music but that isn’t all it offers, the story is absolutely amazing with a beautiful conclusion that rolls up the story and ends it all really well. I definitely expect more of this universe in the future since it is so exciting and there is so much left of Night City to explore. For now, simply due to this amazing story being compressed into a short number of episodes that lead to a seemingly rushed experience, I will be giving this anime a 9/10.
So that is it for this post guys hope you got some value from this. Thank you guys for reading to the end hit me up on Instagram and Twitter with your thoughts and if you have any ideas on what I should write about. Stay safe. Thank you again and I’ll see you all next week.
