Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog I’m so thankful that you guys took the time out of your day to read my blog post. Hope you all are safe from the COVID-19. I was hyped for this anime to come out because the title was just so interesting and while it was a bit disappointing at first, it definetly does pick up pace later on and become an amazing anime.
The story follows middle schooler Kimihiko Kimizuka who has a tendency to attract trouble towards himself. He has forced to join a flash mob while taking a leisurely walk, accidentally stumbled across an underworld transaction between drug dealers, and been at the site of crime scenes often enough to sometimes be considered a suspect and become somewhat friends with the inspector. All this leads to him hearing a few words on a place which change his life forever. The words being “Is there a detective on the plane?” Having attracted trouble to himself yet again, Kimizuka teams up with the legendary detective Seista who is sitting beside him on the plane and asks him to be her sidekick. This single incident sends Kimizuka on a three year journey with Seista as her sidekick until death parts them. Now a year later Kimizuka is again pulled into the conflict against SPES, the organization that made superhumans by giving them powers that Seista fought against. Kimizuka is demotivated at first but will he pick up the battle against SPES, because after all, The detective is already dead.
The character are vast and yet not so vast. What I mean is that we alternate between the past and the present in this story. The past has us seeing Kimizuka who is pretty mature for his age as he goes around solving cases with the wise and witty Seista who takes pleasure in pulling Kimizuka’s leg and has a very pleasant personality. Even in cases she pulls such tricks which solve the case before it begins because according to her that’s what a legendary detective should do. There’s the inspector Fubi who helps out Kimizuka with his cases. Char who works under Seista and idolizes her. In the present we have Natsunagi Nagisa, someone who connected to Seista in a way that I do not want to reveal right now. There’s also Saikawa Yui who joins Kimizuka eventually. All these characters have their own distinct personalities and are interconnected with each other.
The anime has a great soundtrack to listen to and that’s amazing but what’s the real strong point of the anime is how well everything adds up in the end. At first I was very confused and even considered dropping the anime but when I followed through and saw what the story actually ended up being I loved it and loved the way that it all flowed in so beautifully together. The anime might seem confusing at first but don’t be bothered by it. You should just push through and see what the story becomes. The funny parts, the serious parts it all comes together nicely mixed with some action and romance.
The lesson to draw isn’t exactly evident from the story itself because I don’t feel like there’s a lesson to be seen yet but what I learned from watching the anime is that patience is the key to everything. If I didn’t have the patience to sit through the anime then I would have never discovered it’s greatness and that applies to life too, what seems confusing at first might make sense later as long as we are patient
The finale is an amazing ending with an emotional moment with fantastic action. This season is supposed to be all about introducing the characters and allowing us to get comfortable with them and there is plenty of room for a season 2 which I am desperately waiting for because, even though the detective is already dead. Her dying wish will never die. And like Kimizuka said, It’s too soon to call this an epilogue. With a confusing and yet well knit together story with some pretty good action and a nice hint of romance, The Detective is already dead is a must watch anime and I am probably going to be looking for the novels because I want more of this story.

Teaming up with Seista she’s a legendary detective,

Of her sidekick now she’s very protective,
Taking down SPES is her real objective.
Now that he’s with her life seems to be going great,
Always running around ever case is like a date,
Everytime SPES comes around they rush straight,
Into battle leaving their lives upto fate.
But now Kimizuka is just cruising ahead,
Without Seiste from that life he just fled,
New cases come but he’s demotivated because as he said,
Seista the detective is already dead.
