Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog I’m so thankful that you guys took the time out of your day to read my blog post. Hope you all are safe and healthy. This anime is close to my heart and I am biased toward it. The reason? Years ago when I was just a kid I switched to the ‘Animax’ channel (if I remember correctly) on my TV and there I watched one episode of this show, since then I always tried to watch this show but the episodes were broadcasted in a random order so I couldn’t make much sense of it. However, it stuck with me and years later I remembered the name ‘Kindaichi’ and searched for it. I found the original but bad subs, low quality and no availability of episodes made me turn to this new anime which is kind of a continuation. MILD SPOILERS AHEAD. Very mild like only character name and some outlines of cases.

The fun thing about this anime is that it doesn’t follow a typical story. I’ll get to explaining that in a bit. Kindaichi Hajme is the grandson of a famous detective, a slakcer in school, his trued abilities show when he works on murder cases that he gets sucked into. He usually works with childhood friend and kind of love interest Miyuki Nanase. the old detective in the police force Kenmochi takes help from Kindaichi from cases and is his go to for police support during cases. Then there’s the police superintendent Akechi, a brilliant and handsome man who offers support to Kindaichi and competes with him. The story follows Kindaichi on different cases, the only constant characters are the four mentioned above and sometimes 2 of Kindaichi’s rivals make an appearance but it never goes anywhere. The thing is that you can basically jump into any arc of your choosing and completely understand the story. The arcs being anywhere from 1 to 5 episodes long. Hence a story summary is pretty much not possible here.
Character development is nonexistent in this anime and you will see that because from the start we see Kindaichi as a static character. He’s smart, goofy, and sometimes a pervert but when solving cases he is the most serious person ever. He doesn’t change throughout the show, not even once, not even when you expect that some change would come in him. The characters are interesting but do not develop. The conversations between characters can be interesting, especially in one particular case where Kindaichi has a conversation with the Puppeter from Hell, a rival but apart from that do not expect any character development because the characters keep changing for each case.
The anime does detective work extremely well. Setting up the case, giving us the clues and doing the ultimate reveal of the culprit, the anime does it all beautifully and each case will keep you engrossed because you can figure out some of the tricks but you will almost never be able to guess the true culprit until Kindaichi reveals him. The animation is good, nothing to write home about. The music too is good and set well according to the scenes. The bad thing about this anime is how there’s no consistent plot even with Kindaichi having 2 really good rivals setup for him.
No matter the reason for the crime, crime is always wrong. That is something that anime can show really well. Often times when the motive of the killer is revealed you would sympathize with the killer and maybe even think that Kindaichi will forgive the killer but no, Kindaichi stays true to his ideal of justice and never once does he forgive a criminal for their crimes. He stays a compassionate human to even the culprits but makes sure they pay for their crimes.
The anime has 47 episodes with 1 TV special. The only strong point of this anime is the detective work that it shows, the fell of the mystery is really well done and is quite entertaining. This is another one of the anime can be a hit or miss with people and completely differs from person to person. The anime can be rated at a 6 at most but I personally give it a 7 because of the hit of nostalgia it gave him. I won’t tell you all to immediately check it out but if you find the time do watch one case and see if you like it.
So that is it for this post guys hope you got some value from this. Thank you guys for reading to the end hit me up on Instagram and Twitter with your thoughts and if you have any ideas on what I should write about. Stay safe from the COVID-19. Thank you again and I’ll see you all next week.
