Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog I’m so thankful that you guys took the time out of your day to read my blog post. Hope you all are safe from the COVID-19. I know I’ve been doing a lot of book reviews lately and yes there are more to come but for the time being let’s talk gaming.

All of us know what VR gaming is you wear a headset with motion tracking capabilities and you’re transported to the game world to live out the story as if you were there to experience it with your own eyes. Virtual Reality blew everyone away when it first came out in about 1970 according to Wikipedia but no one had ever thought about it being incorporated into gaming yeah there were flight simulators but it was not open to the public. Then came 1991 when Sega announced the Sega VR headset for arcade games and the Mega Drive console. It used LCD screens in the visor, stereo headphones, and inertial sensors that allowed the system to track and react to the movements of the user’s head. In the same year, Virtuality launched and went on to become the first mass-produced, networked, multiplayer VR entertainment system that was released in many countries, including a dedicated VR arcade at Embarcadero Center. Costing up to $73,000 per multi-pod Virtuality system, they featured headsets and exoskeleton gloves that gave one of the first “immersive” VR experiences. A lot of more shit happened in that year such as Carolina Cruz-Neira, Daniel J. Sandin and Thomas A. DeFanti from the Electronic Visualization Laboratory created the first cubic immersive room, the Cave automatic virtual environment (CAVE). If you don’t know those people Google them.

So this was all great and like really fascinating as I have been told but then came in 2001 the SAS Cube (SAS3) the first PC-based cubic room. Then in 2007, Google introduced Street View, a service that shows panoramic views of an increasing number of worldwide positions such as roads, indoor buildings and rural areas. It also features a stereoscopic 3D mode, introduced in 2010.
Till now very little gaming was done in VR but it was time to change that In 2010, Palmer Luckey designed the first prototype of the Oculus Rift and boy it hyped everyone up this was the future and it was amazing. In 2014, Sony announced Project Morpheus (its code name for the PlayStation VR), a virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 4 video game console. Now things were really getting good with games like: PSVR Worlds, Drive Club and a lot of other ones the PSVR was a hit and it was selling great like as of December 31, 2019, PlayStation VR has sold-through 5 million units and who can blame the people the very thought of playing the Elder Scrolls or Five Nights at Freddys in VR excited people. The hype was and still is real.

Now for the take VR gaming is the future with games like Iron Man VR coming up and already great games like Farpoint already on the system. VR gaming is not going anywhere anytime soon all I can see it doing is expanding like being used in training for a lot of other jobs so people can experience stressful situations and tackle them without any actual harm coming to anyone and some people can just experience them as games for just fun. VR is not the future it is the present and it is going to stay around for a long long time maybe even became an integral part of our lives. So the answer is no VR is not the future it is the present and it’s going to stay around for a long time. I even see people designing their own games and uploading them for others to play that might be a really cool business idea for anyone who wants to jump in. Yeah VR is cool and it was once a thing that people did not even imagine now it is everywhere. You might not even see it but it really is everywhere and I personally see VR gaming becoming competitive enough someday for it to be on Esports. My final take is yeah VR is the present but it’s going to stay for a long time so no worries if you feel like you’re gonna miss out this thing is not going anywhere though with the possibilities that VR presents for gaming you could also say that this is just the testing phase and we might see full games being played in VR a common thing if they fix the various problems like seizures and other things. Remember if you look to the future this might be just a testing phase.
So that is it for this post guys hope you got some value from this. Thank you guys for reading to the end hit me up on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn with your thoughts and if you have any ideas which I should write about. Stay safe from the COVID-19. Thank you again and I’ll see you all next week.
