Whether it’s the most anticipated game of the year or one I never heard of I always watch a review by some of the most famous companies like IGN and Gamespot to name a few of a game before buying it but this time I realized maybe we are being played. Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this.

So, last year I was desperately waiting for Days Gone as I thought the game to be super interesting and awesome but then came along the IGN review saying and I quote “Yet through its 60-odd-hour ride, Days Gone loses its focus with repetitive missions, a meandering and thematically unsatisfying storyline, and an excess of bugs and busywork. When you slow down for a minute or two, these issues combine with a dreary, uninteresting open world and add up to an uneven and mostly toothless zombie experience”. I was like ‘ok every game has faults let’s read the full review then I’ll see if I want to buy it’. The review got worse and worse almost like taking out a grudge on the game. I decided to not buy the game until recently when I picked up the game for a discounted price and boy was it good. It surpassed all my experctations which were lowered by the reviews to be honest but to discover that they were wrong was a surprise. My main concern was the repetitive missions which after playing I found out each had a story connected to them and gave you rewards. Fewer attacks on the road, supplies were all things that drove me to complete these camps which each had a same base structure but cool different tweaks and opportunities of their own. An example would be clearing out a Marauder camp but unlike others you can blow up this one’s defences for a horde to burst through it. The main aspect of the game is the experimentation as each player has a different approach to things and does things differently. The encampment missions which were ‘all the same’ actually had a story of why they needed to be killed and were not just mindless massacres. The bounty missions were my personal favourites.

The freaker nests which were described as too vast in number and useless were rewarding allowing players to fast travel and players who preferred to ‘power through’ don’t understand the meaning of FAST travel that’s the point put some time and effort to burn down the nests and save a lot of time later when we have to travel to one end of the map from another. The players who did not burn the nests would have to ‘power through’ to almost the destination which would be inefficient and destroy the purpose of FAST travel.

The story which is described as ‘a movie that goes on for an hour longer than it needs to or should’ve.’ Is actually a well crafted masterpiece that I wish I had more of. The concept of missions is quiet different in Days Gone which made reviewers who had to just get through it for the review not understand it and instead hate it. The story if experience properly and slowly taking everything in is not the best but definitely good. The flashbacks are the best part showing us a younger and much more innocent Deacon which shows us the character development. The world is not exactly brimming with things to do but there are definitely things to do which make the world worth exploring but the exploring is mostly to experience the scenery and graphics of the game so I understand if people find it boring.

The combat is fun, the gun fights are the basic cover and shoot but the horde fights are the real fun. They can be dealt with in any way ranging from a sprint, shoot , sprint repeat or tactically placing bombs and traps to take out the horde with style. The hordes have patterns themselves so they can waited for at a spot or their cave can be rigged while they are out at night.

The point is Days Gone has a lot to offer and it depends on the player how they want to experience it. I fell it is unjust to judge a game on it’s first few hours of gameplay and by a single person who has a specific playstyle. Many people did not ever pick up days game despite being hyped for it because the reviews suggested that it was not worth playing. Each player has a different perspective and playstyle and games should be judged on how they can be played and what they have to offer and not a rushed gameplay by someone who’s playstyle is not suited to the game. The developers also need to release a full game without bugs or at least minimum bugs so that the game can be enjoyed to the fullest.

The end Verdict is that an unfair judging system for games that needs to be changed and developers who released a game with bugs which did not allow the game to be experienced the best way is what got Days Gone it’s bad reviews. I recommend everyone to at least try it out as it is a gem which is unfairly treated.
